Unifi Agony

TM Unifi - High Speed Broadband, Lousy Service

Damn it. I get angry whenever I thought of my recent encounter with TM Unifi Customer Careline. TM Unifi is an Internet service provider in Malaysia and I have been using their service for 2 years now. I am currently studying in Cyberjaya and am renting a room in a house together with a few foreigners - they are all great housemates by the way.

So on Thursday 4/4/2013 my Internet malfunctioned all of the sudden. There was no dial tone on the phone line and the Optical light was red on the modem. It was as if our Internet service has been terminated or suspended. It was weird as we pay our bills on time all these while. So being a busy medical student, I told my Iranian housemate to head to the TM Point the next morning and lodge a report - which he did. I remember I got home the next day in the afternoon during the Friday prayers and he told me about how he was asked to go home by the receptionist at TM Point and call the Customer Careline himself. I find this request rather amusing as my house phone is not functioning. Or maybe that's the way they handle foreigners.

Nevertheless, I told my housemate that I would handle the case from here and proceeded to calling TM Careline from my own cellphone. So a report was made and everything was in place (Report number was 1-429737XXXX). The operator told me that the technicians would pay my house a visit within 24 hours (standard protocol). Please bear in mind that I made this report at 12PM in the afternoon, so a part of me was sincerely hoping that they would handle my case on the very same day itself. But knowing how Malaysians work, I know I really shouldn't put my hopes up. And I was right.

Every weekend, I would go back to my house at KL and that weekend was a special weekend for me as Jay Chou's Opus World Tour 2013 tickets would officially go on sale on Saturday 6/4/2013. I will post my experience on that as soon as I have gotten my Internet back and running. Right now I am merely typing this blogpost from my phone and it is rather inconvenient. So Saturday morning passed in a flash and in the afternoon, TM Operator called me to inform that the Cyberia (the place where I stay at Cyberjaya) Management refused the technician's entry into my housing area as the rules stated that technicians are only allowed on weekdays. I did not know that. So fine! A reappointment was made and I personally told the operator to put my case as the first on the list on Monday. And she happily agreed to do so.

Sunday night came, and I was back at my hostel and with no Internet for me to "kepo" around, I resorted to sleeping early, hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Eventually, Monday 8/4/13 came and I woke up early and got ready for my class at Hospital Putrajaya. I kept my phone close with me all the time just in case I receive a call from the technicians. Entire morning passed and still no calls whatsoever from them.

Feeling worried, I personally dropped by TM Point Cyberjaya in the afternoon during lunchtime to update myself on my case status. I approached this lady on the counter and all she did was to hand me a phone and told me to speak to the Customer Careline myself. (Please note that my Iranian housemate was asked to go home and call the Careline himself last Friday). Okay, fine. So I spoke with this lady on the line and to my utmost horror, she informed me that no appointment was set with regards to my case! I almost lost my temper but this lady was quick to assure me that she would post my case up to "Level 2" as urgent case and that the technicians would handle my case immediately. But it is never easy for me to buy her promises. And since there was nothing much that I could do, I resolved to waiting for the technicians to arrive in the afternoon.

And so I waited and waited until 5PM and still, no calls arrived. This time, temper flaring, I dialed the Customer Careline number from my cellphone again and guess what the operator told me this time? - That my case has been closed! So in order for the technician to see through my problem, he would need to reopen another case report. You can never imagine how I yelled at the operator to the point that he was almost scared to talk to me or say anything worth scolding. Hell, I was so disgusted, utterly DISGUSTED with the lackadaisical attitude that the workers are showing. Useless! So another report case was submitted this time (1-431613XXXX).

Somehow I forced this Operator to tell me what was written in the report in the afternoon by the lady I spoke to earlier. I even got him to tell me her name. Apparently, she did post my case up to "Level 2" and according to him again, the "Level 2" department proceeded to closing my case. So the blaming game begins and nobody wants to take responsibility on the problem. Typical Malaysians attitude again. And worse still, the TM technicians only work up to 5PM and now I have to wait one more day for them to process my report. Great job! Extremely well done!

And as I was typing this, I received a call from TM. This guy called to confirm the appointment with the technicians tomorrow and he sounded surprised as to how cool I was treating him. He can't really blame me for that can he? I pay my bills all the time and I get rewarded with this kind of shitty attitude from their workers. What else can I say? Curse them.

Person Who Once Loved Me

How are you now?
Is everything fine?
I long for your nagging that I was once so sick of.
We used to know each other so well.
Are you doing well without me now?
Every single day I live with thousands of regrets.
I live on despite realizing you are not here.
Even though we are now so far apart, I still can't forget you.

The person who used to love me is not by my side now...
I still can't forget you, I just can't...
If only I can see you at least one more time...
If only I can see you again, if only...

It hurts as I remisnisce the past...
The way you fuss about me every single day.
You smiling from within my arms.
And finally your eyes on the day we part for one last time...

The person who used to love me is not by my side now...
I still can't forget you, I just can't...
If only I can see you at least one more time.
If only I can see you again, if only...

Because you were there, I could always smile.
Because you were there, I was once the happiest man.
With you around, my life was so worth living.
The person who I used to love so much.
And I still do...

I'm Back! And Still no Jay Chou!!!

Hi, folks! It has been an extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemely long time since I last updated my blog due to the loaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaads of real life happenings that actually turned my life topsy-turvy for a while and kept me busy these few months. So, since I am starting to be active again in blogging, let me recap on some of the highlights throughout these few months of MIA. So let's start with November 2012, I did not update a single thing at my blog because I was so busy preparing for an online game competition that would be held in early December. It was a last minute decision as I did not plan to join the competition at all at the very beginning. That game is Super Dancer Online, some of you probably knows that my in-game character name is [rOx]^PP and I have been indulging myself in this game for awhile and have developed skills good enough for a major tournament. So every single free time that I had was dedicated towards training and improving myself. But alas, the competition was held at The Summit and I got 4th for both Malaysia finals and International finals. It was kinda sad because only Top 3 managed to get cash prizes and as for me, I got nothing. Not even a single cent, not even a consolation prize for all the effort put in.

The top 6 for Super Dancer Online International Championship 2012. Can you spot me? Two are from China, and the rest are Malaysians
So after the bitterness of losing out in that competition, I started focusing on the next big thing in my life, the launching of the iPhone 5 in Malaysia!!!!! And the next thing I knew, I got myself my new iPhone 5 from the Maxis Center at Alamanda, Putrajaya. I remembered pre-booking the phone with Maxis and I told them I would prefer to collect the phone at The Gardens; but after few days without news from them (they told me I need to wait for a maximum of 2 weeks), I got impatient and approached the Maxis Center at Alamanda. To my surprise, they told me they restock their iPhone 5 every single morning! So the next day, I skipped class and was at the center by 11am. To my utmost disappointment, they told me the stock for the day has not arrived. Lucky I was not convinced and I told her to recheck the stock. After confirming, she told me there were only 3 units left and all of them were the 32GB White version - exactly what I was looking for! So I signed up immediately.

My new toy!

And also at the end of December, there was another big thing happening in my life. You guess it - the launching of Jay Chou 12th album: Opus 12!!! But this time, the album launching really left me frustrated!!! Come to think of it, I am still annoyed when I am typing this down. So the album was scheduled to be released on December 28th and pre-order started way back into December 12th itself. As usual, I would go for the most expensive USB version of his album (about RM200+). I approached the Speedy store at Mid Valley to pre-order and they promised to call me as soon as the album is in store. I waited an entire morning on December 28th and no calls arrived. Frustrated, I went to Mid Valley that night itself just to purchase this album only to be informed that the album has not arrived at local store. What's more the lady on duty was so rude and she seemed irritated for some reason. I could understand that probably a lot people had been asking for the album one whole day that she got tired of repeating the same words over and over again. Well, this is the very first time that Jay Chou album is not available in stores on the day of launching! It has never been like this before. And the impolite lady assured that I could probably get the album the next week.

So the next Monday, I was at the store AGAIN. And AGAIN, this same impolite lady was there with the same impolite manner. This time I could find no excuse for her to being impolite, but I was really irritated with her attitude that I vowed not to buy the album from the shop. Plus knowing Speedy, they tend to overcharge for Jay Chou album. His USB version is priced at around RM210 online and I remembered buying the previous album at RM280. So this time, I expected the price to be the same, I have not checked out the price yet. So, I tried another shop upstairs (the music store in front of Baskin Robbins). The young boy at the shop was really polite this time - a total 180 degrees change from the lady downstairs. I was so assured by this young boy and he told me personally he did not know when the album would arrive but promised to reserve a copy for me should it arrive. That's better isn't it? Instead of giving false hope.

So I waited. And waited. Checking the store every now and then,  and it was already 4th of January and still no arrival. Is it so hard to ship the albums to Malaysia? Why the long delay this time? And worse still, I was going back to my hometown (Segamat) for a 2-week study break as I would be having my Professional Exam on the 18th of January. So how am I going to get my hands on the album? I do not think this USB album will be available in Segamat! Sadly, I cancelled my order from the store and went back home. Back at hometown, I got desperate and ordered the album online at the price of RM210. The fella told me he would send the album to me ASAP. So I waited. And waited!!! Meanwhile, it was already January 16th and I received this call from Speedy Mid Valley that my album has finally arrived. Guess what, I lied to them that I have already gotten mine and so no thanks.

My study break back at hometown had been fun. I spent most of time studying (of course), binge-eating (my brain needs calorie okay!), badminton with my mum (stopped after she developed tennis elbow), and Cytus. So for those who do not know what is Cytus, it is actually a music rhythmic game available on all iOS and Android platforms. I have to say I am surprised to find myself quite good at this game, so I started posting YouTube videos of my gameplays.

To the extend that I even played with a single hand!

So January 18th arrived - the day of my MBBS Professional Exam Part 1. Part 1 is a full theory paper while Part 2 will be conducted at July and it is fully clinical. But one thing for certain, still no Jay Chou news. Gosh! So I endured 4 days of exams studying and constantly thinking of my Jay Chou USB album whereabouts. As for my exam,  the Modified Essay Questions (MEQ) given this year are as follow:

MEQ1:
1. Diabetic Retinopathy
2. Delirium secondary to Community Acquired Pneumonia
3. Gestational Diabetes Mellitus complicated by Post-Partum Hemorrhage
4. Alleged Motor Vehicle Accident sustaining Closed Fracture of the Right Femur complicated by Fat Embolism

MEQ2:
1. Thyroid CA with Post-Operative Hypocalcemia
2. Acute Exacerbation of Bronchial Asthma secondary to Bronchopneumonia
3. Failure to Thrive secondary to Heart Failure

I was not worried of these papers as I felt I have performed well for them. But my biggest worry was the Single Best Answer Questions (SBAQ). These SBAQ questions are not the type of multiple choice questions that we used to have in high-school. The choices available are mostly correct choices but we need to pick the BEST of the REST which is really tough and "mind-blasting". I was always able to rule out two choices easily and got stuck with the remaining two and I needed to play "eeny, meeny, miny, moe" to gamble on the right answer. Anyway, I still managed to pass the exam and focus my next three weeks of holiday on full-blasting-hardcore-mode enjoyment! Three weeks of holiday for a medical student is like a year holiday for a normal student, believe me. We enjoy like hell on our holidays cause we knew we will suffer like hell once our next sem starts. Goodness.

Me on the first day of my Professional Exam
And my results!

So now that I have passed my exams - still no Jay Chou! I tried contacting the seller and he told me he has hundreds of copies to send out and he apologized for the delay. So apa boleh buat (what can I do)? Just sit down and slowly wait for the album to arrive. 1 month after the official launching of the album and I have yet to land my hands on it. It's a sad story for a Jay Chou fan like me. But rumors have it that he will conduct his World Tour this year. I hope that's true, keeping my fingers' crossed.

So that's basically what happened during these few months. My close friends have been trying to poke me into revealing the meaning of my poems (the two poems composed on my blog), but I hope they understand that it is a very personal poem that was composed when I was at those "weak" moments. But now that I am in such high holiday spirit... Haha!

Anyway, it feels good to be back here writing. I have been craving to write on this blog for a very long time, and now that I have gotten my chance, I just can't help pouring out every single bit of my past experiences. That's the point of having a blog right? To share a bit of you here and there. And before I forget, it has been a looooooooong time since I last frequent the gym due to my hectic schedule (what an excuse, my gym instructor won't be too pleased), I am just going to pen off now and grab my shoes and head to the gym. It's time to tone up a bit and lose all the fats I have gained these entire few months. You can even see my belly on the photo of me above. Gosh! I hate fats! If Jay Chou can still do it at the age of 30+, why can't I do it too right?!!

Peace out! :)
